Finding a Way

I trust local people to make local decisions and believe the purpose of government is to serve tax-paying citizens and create common sense solutions. My life experiences have led me to understand the deep importance of strong families and hard work, open spaces, and communities that inspire future generations to leave the world a better place. As your representative I pledge first and foremost to listen—I believe there is a reason we were given two ears and only one mouth. Let’s fight for things our children will thank us for in 20 years.

ABOUT CHRIS

A husband, father and public school teacher, Chris is a third generation Idahoan whose families farmed in Shoshone and Melba.  His is an Idaho story.

Growing up solidly middle class as the son of a civil engineer and classroom teacher, Chris learned the value of hard work and a deep belief in public institutions.  He graduated from the College of Idaho where he ran cross country and majored in History.  He worked fighting fire for the BLM and cut trail for the Forest Service in Idaho’s Wilderness before becoming a community organizer for a non-profit conservation organization.

After meeting his wife Melissa and moving to Hailey, Chris waited tables, coached high school basketball, and ran a campaign to promote solar energy in Blaine County.  The people of Blaine County know to live here you have either three houses or three jobs– Chris was the latter!

Eight years ago Chris became a math teacher at Wood River High School where he has started clubs designed to empower Latinos in STEAM fields and involve more young people in the Next Generation of politics.  His Honors Geometry and Data Analytics classes are known for robust projects and discourse in the pursuit of mathematical and higher-level truth.

When he is not chasing after his two young boys Chris can be found hunting elk, packrafting, flyfishing, or playing an open mic night.

TOP ISSUES

I aim to bring positive change and effective leadership to Idaho. Explore my top priorities and discover how I plan to make a real difference for all Idahoans.

EDUCATION

I am a public school educator and believe that lifelong learning improves livelihoods for many generations. Schools are at the center of our rural communities, and the parents, coaches, and teachers who keep them running deserve better.

I will champion any effort to expand opportunities for pre-K and kindergarten, which are particularly needed in the rural communities of District 26.  I will fight to expand Career and Technical Education so Idaho’s students can stay in Idaho and contribute to our economy.

CLEAN WATER & PUBLIC LANDS

As a passionate hunter and outdoorsman, I am dedicated to protecting access to our public lands, and maintaining their unique and rejuvenating character.  Many are the fall days that my soul has been uplifted from an “unsuccessful” elk hunt or fly-fishing trip.

I believe in balanced land management that prioritizes working landscapes and clean air and water that will benefit us now and for future generations.

COST OF LIVING

I am a husband and father in a working family and I know how inflation, child care, and housing costs strip away savings and take away from our household bottom line.

I will fight tirelessly to bring down the costs that working people pay in health care, housing, and child care.

WOMEN’S HEALTH

Idaho women want and deserve vital health care services.

I will stand up against the extreme attacks on women’s reproductive freedom and fight to keep local control in the hands of the two most important people in the room: the mother and her doctor.
